The Problem
Most youth goalies are coached by people who never played the position.
That's not a criticism — it's just the reality of volunteer hockey. The good news: you don't need to have played goal to make a real difference. You just need to know what to look for.
of a youth goalie's practice time is spent with non-goalie coaches. Every rep either builds good habits or bad ones.
habits separate goalies who develop from those who stagnate. Most coaches don't know what they are — until now.

is all it takes. Complete the training in one sitting, or come back to it before a practice or game.
Decision Proof
What your board can verify before saying yes.
I went through Goalie Guide and thought it was great. It happens so often that coaches are forwards and defensemen and have no idea how to coach goalies, especially at the younger levels. Even when a specialized goalie coach comes in once a week, regular coaches still need to know what to look for, what tips to give, and what drills to run. This seems like a training module that should be required with coaching certificates.

Common Questions
Answers for your board.
How many coaches can use it?
One flat annual fee covers every coach in your association — no per-seat pricing, no limits. Twenty coaches or two, the price is the same.
How long does setup take?
Once you enroll, coaches receive access within 24 hours — or on a date you choose, if you'd prefer to time it ahead of your season. There's nothing to install — each coach gets a personal sign-in link by email. One click and they're in.
What do coaches actually learn?
How to support good habits and avoid contributing to bad ones. We meet coaches where they are — arming them with practical goaltending basics so they can coach effectively from the bench, without trying to turn them into an expert.
That includes: the three most important things in youth goalie development, what a good stance looks like, how to structure a practice with a goalie in mind, how to avoid common coaching mistakes, and how to understand the unique pressure that comes with playing goal. Everything is practical and immediately applicable.
Does this require a contract?
No. It's a simple annual license — pay once, your coaches are covered for the season. Renew if you want to continue; there's no obligation.
What if we don't renew?
Coaches keep access until the end of your license year. After that, accounts are paused. No data is deleted — if you re-enroll the following season, everyone picks up where they left off.
Will our coaches actually want to do this?
Yes — and for a straightforward reason: most coaches already feel unequipped when it comes to their goalies. Goalie Guide gives them tools they've quietly wanted.
There's also something most coaches don't say out loud but absolutely feel: hockey is more fun when your team wins — and goaltending is one of the biggest factors in whether they do. Coaches who understand how to develop their goalies see it on the ice.
The training is 30 minutes, self-paced, and built without filler. Every module is practical and immediately applicable — no theory, nothing that doesn't translate to the next practice. This isn't another obligation. It's something coaches will actually use.
What if we already have a goalie coordinator?
Good — they'll have one less thing to carry. Goalie Guide improves the 80–90% of a goalie's ice time that happens without an expert present — the regular practices and games where your team coaches are on their own. Your goalies will still benefit from true specialists for clinics, private lessons, and development camps. This handles everything in between.
